As I was reflecting on last week’s defensive strategy scripture, I couldn’t help but think about how powerful the first part of the scripture was. It was on my mind most of this week as I found myself contemplating all my problems, my disappointments, my regrets, my unfulfilled wishes and dreams.
I knew I would spiral down into a depressed state if I didn’t get control of my mind and stop those thoughts. This very topic ties back to the Minding Your Mind blog from a few months ago. I guess I needed a refresher on the topic.
I was getting stuck on my bad financial decisions, bad parenting decisions, and just bad LIFE decisions. If only, if only, if only… I got to beating myself up and mourning the life I thought I could have had, instead of the reality of my current conditions.
I know I state it quite often, but the mind truly is so powerful, and how we monitor, maintain, and control it really does make an impact on our lives. We can look at situations and accept defeat, or trust that God’s hand is moving in our lives somehow.
Today’s Defensive Strategy is not a passive response to an attack. When I think of “casting down arguments”, I think of a basketball player blocking or rejecting a shot with much attitude!
But with the power of God behind us it really is as easy as…
And then after you block and reject that shot, let Satan know…
NOT IN MY HOUSE!!
We ought to be outraged that our enemy came for us. Does he know who we are? Does he know WHOSE child we are? He tried it! But we have to reject his weak attack shot each and every time.
I know many times the shots he takes at our lives don’t feel that weak. They hurt, and sometimes can seem devastating, but at the end of the day, he is recycling all the old tricks he continues to use on us. We have to put on our spiritual decoder and be able to discern his strategy, and smack down his attacks.
We must completely reject any thought, notion, challenge, or situation that is trying to elevate itself over what the Word of God says:
I’m a lender, and not a borrower – Deuteronomy 28:12
I’m in the front and not the back – Deuteronomy 28:13
I’m on top, and never at the bottom – Deuteronomy 28:13
All nations call me blessed, for my legacy is delightful (this is only for tithers!) – Malachi 3:12
I am MORE than conqueror – Romans 8:37
God always gives me the victory – 2 Corinthians 2:14
I will win – 1 Corinthians 15:57
I can do ALL things through Christ which strengthens me – Philippians 4:13
No evil or harm will overtake me – Psalms 91:10
My children are mighty and blessed – Psalms 112: 2
My children rise up and call me blessed – Proverbs 31:28
I will live and not die, and declare the works of the Lord – Psalms 118:17
If any of these declarations resonate with you, I challenge you to read and become familiar with that scripture, along with the entire associated chapter of the Bible in which they are written. It will give you a better insight for the context of each scripture, so you will have the knowledge of what God says in His Word.
After you have read and understood what the Word says, you will be in a better position to cast those ridiculous thoughts down when Satan shoots them up at you, knowing that they go against your knowledge of what God’s Word says about you.
And saying the above scriptures aloud is our version of trash-talking as we block those shots he takes at every meaningful area of our lives. And be sure to end your scripture by saying now GET THAT OUT OF HERE!!!!
What shots has Satan taken at your life, your marriage, your children, your health, or your finances?
Which scripture from the above list will you use to block or reject the next shot Satan takes at you? Or can you think of another scripture more applicable that is not listed above?
